Born in La Pocatière in 1988, Mathieu David Gagnon made a high-profile entrance on the music scene with the creation of a unique project, Flore Laurentienne, for which he is composer, orchestrator and principal musician. Critically acclaimed, Volume 1 garnered two awards at the 2020 ADISQ Gala, won the Best Experimental Album trophy at GAMIQ, and was shortlisted for the Polaris Prize and nominated for a JUNO Award.
The fall of 2022 was marked by a tour in Germany and the Netherlands, and by the release of a new album, Volume 2, released simultaneously by Costume Records and the American label RVNG Intl. Flore Laurentienne's music was featured in a number of cultural productions, including the Chanel fashion show (coll. hiver 2022-23), and composed the music for a podcast on the work of Jean-Paul Riopelle (Dépeindre Riopelle, Radio-Canada, 2023).
