Emma Beko is a genre-defying artist who blends melancholic songs with nostalgic and emotionally evocative soundscapes. Born in Budapest to a Peruvian father and a Canadian-Hungarian mother, she grew up in Montreal and later moved to New York as a teenager, absorbing the city’s vibrant rap culture. As a co-founder of the duo Heartstreets, she helped pave the way for women in Canadian hip-hop.
As a solo artist, Emma has gained wide recognition with projects like BLUE, Digital Damage, and Superficial Stains, where she delves into deeply personal and existential themes, establishing herself as a distinctive voice in modern music with both personal and universal resonance.
Her upcoming album, Cicada, draws inspiration from lo-fi acoustic folk and cinematic atmospheres, featuring collaborations with Nailah Hunter, CFCF, and Sophia Bel, and is set for release in fall 2025.
