DOGO SUICIDE

While drawing inspiration from the seedy taverns of Quebec City’s lower town, the trio delights in navigating the diverse influences of its members, all while playing fast and loose with punk codes—equal parts irreverent and impetuous. Critics, journalists, and podcasters have long struggled to categorize Dogo Suicide’s sound. Here, finally, is an informed answer: post-everything, but pretty punk overall. Honorable mention to the kind-hearted columnist who once said, “to call them just a punk band would be like saying Mr. Puffs are just a dessert.”

Even though they haven’t yet released their debut album, Dogo Suicide has embraced their hyperactive streak since the release of their first EP, Sexe pour les yeux, in September 2021. Since then, the young trio has hit the stage nearly 100 times and released multiple EPs—each of which has earned nominations at the GAMIQ (Gala alternatif de la musique indépendante du Québec). The band has played major festivals such as Montreal’s Pouzza Fest, Quebec’s Festival OFF, FestiVoix in Trois-Rivières, and more recently, FrancoFaune in Belgium.
